I’m 19 weeks today - one more week and I’m already halfway through the pregnancy! In the beginning, I didn’t think the days/weeks could pass fast enough but now time seems to be flying.

The biggest highlight is that I’ve started to feel the baby move the last week or so. I first starting feeling it while we were in NY, but I wasn’t quite sure if that’s what it was … but now I’m convinced it’s definitely her moving around in there!! I always feel her move after I’ve had a few bites to eat.

On another note, I weened myself back to only 1 dose of Zofran per day while we were in NY. Normally, I take 3 doses. It started to catch up with me; by the last day or 2 of the trip I felt queasy. Once we got home, I still figured I should get it out of my system and see how I felt. After 24 hours of no Zofran, the next morning I was at the toilet 2x in a matter of an hour. I mentioned it to my Dr. yesterday and she said, “Some women have to remain on it the whole pregnancy. If you’re taking it and it works for you, it’s not a problem.” So, that’s that. I’m still taking 1-2 doses/day.

Since the news yesterday, Hal and I have been talking about girl names. Some of the contenders are: Emma, Olivia, Madison, Morgan, Cameron and Jordan. Any faves??? I really like Hannah, but Hal doesn’t like it at all.

Now I’m thinking nursery! We got an IKEA in Round Rock, about 20-30 minutes North of Austin. Janet just moved into a new place so she’s looking for some things & I want to check out the nursery furniture/etc, so we might brave the crowds and check out the Grand Opening this weekend.

2nd Trimester October 19, 2006

Filed under: Boy or Girl?, Maternity Clothes, Morning Sickness — bunintheoven @ 3:19 pm

I made it to the 2nd trimester! My morning sickness hasn’t gone away yet though. I had trouble getting my Zofran RX filled at the pharmacy this week, so I went about 1. 5 days without it (Tues-Wed.) I figured I would get the RX filled, but see if I could go without it. But, suprise surprise… the m/s is not gone yet! I was generally fine on Tuesday, but I was hugging the toilet from the minute I rolled out of bed yesterday morning up until early afternoon when I picked up the RX. Today I feel much better, thank God!

Last weekend, Hal took me to the mall and I bought my first pair of maternity jeans! I also got a couple of these belly bands (that look like tube tops) to wear over the waist of your pants. They should help a little more wear out of my regular jeans (so you can unbutton them and nobody knows!) and help secure the maternity jeans which are a little to big right now. They also cover up the ever-attractive elastic!

Lately I’ve had a couple of fearful moments… usually when I’m drifting off to sleep at night. I’ll wake up in a panic, and I’m thinking “Oh my gosh, we’re having a BABY! Can we do this? Can we handle it? Will I be able to handle the labor?” Then I calm down and go right back to sleep. In the morning I remember it and it seems kind of silly, but at the moment it happens I do feel petrified!! Speaking of, I haven’t had any “baby dreams” yet (weird dreams, but no baby dreams.) Hal has had a couple… Most recently, he dreamt that we had a baby girl! I asked him if he saw the baby in the dream, but he didn’t.

We had a cold front blow in last night, so it feels wonderful out. I have the windows open; I love this time of year!

1 day till my 4-month check-up, 2 days till Hal’s Birthday, 13 days till Halloween, 17 days till our NY trip and 36 days till Thanksgiving! Lots to look forward to!

I will have Hal take a new belly shot of my in the next few days and post it!

12.5 Week Belly Shot October 4, 2006

12.5 Weeks, originally uploaded by jessicarsaville.

Hal took this picture on Saturday, at 12.5 weeks. I’m exactly 13 weeks today; I’m in the last week of my 1st trimester! Normally, morning sickness is supposed to start subsiding at this point (but not for everyone!) and you’re supposed to get some of your energy back. This is supposed to be the most “enjoyable” time during pregnancy…

Speaking of morning sickness, I’m still taking the Zofran. I’ve skipped a dose a couple times lately to see how I felt, and unfortunately I get sick. So, I plan to keep monitoring it and quit taking it when I can successfully go a full day without it and feel OK.

I’m really looking forward to Fall: the cooler weather, we have a trip to NY planned in early November, the upcoming holidays and feeling great throughout! Also, next week is also our 4-year anniversary; we’re planning a really nice night out to celebrate.

We should find out the sex of the baby in the next month or so! I have an appt. on 10/20 (15 weeks), but I think it will be to early them to tell for sure. So, I’m guessing we’ll find out at my next monthly appt in mid-November.

I’ve been on the Zofran for 2 days now… and no nausea or vomitting since I’ve been on it!!! It’s costing me an arm & leg to be on it ($8/day)… but it’s by and far worth it to me. I actually feel like somewhat of my old self again thanks to this miracle drug. Our friends are coming in today/tomorrow from FL and Chicago, so I’m glad I’ll be able to enjoy eatting out/etc.

10 Weeks & Zofran September 13, 2006

Filed under: Medicine, Morning Sickness — bunintheoven @ 8:41 pm

I’m 10 weeks today.  When I went for my first prenatal visit at 7 weeks, I was already having morning sickness pretty bad.  It started at about 5.5 weeks. So, the Dr. prescribed me Reglan.  It’s supposed to help aid digestion.  Many women’s digestive systems slow down when they are pregnant; and some go into overdrive.  Well, the medicine put mine into overdrive… I was sick from both ends.  So, I stopped taking it after a couple days.  The last few weeks I’ve just been taking it day by day.  But, this last week I really started to get frustrated with the whole thing.  Last night was the clencher!  Warning that this is a bit graphic.  I was sick in the morning as usual.  I felt horrible all afternoon & then got sick again in the early evening.  It was the WORST vomitting experience of my life.  That’s pretty bad when you’re rating such a horrible event on a scale of good to bad.  Anywho, I felt like I was throwing up FIRE.  Afterwards I felt like I could eat, but the food was burning my throat as it went down.  I think I burnt my esophagus.  After getting sick again this morning my stomach was now completely empty.  I decided to eat some Cream of Wheat since I thought it would go down easy.  It felt like sand going down my throat & I could literally feel it hitting my stomach.  After breakfast, I called the Dr. back to see if there was anything else she could give me… I just couldn’t deal with it anymore.   She prescribed me Zofran and called it into my pharmacy.  The whole way there I was praying the insurance would cover it, because I read how $$$ this medicine is.  It’s the strongest nausea/vomitting medicine on the market… it’s most used for chemotherapy patients.  I couldn’t have been happier to pay my $40 copay and let that sweet tablet dissolve on my tongue!  Normally I’d be on a downward spiral at this point in the afternoon, but I feel good as of right now.  So, I’m thankful and praying that this will work for me.

I’m 9 weeks as of yesterday. We had a great time in South Padre; I can’t believe how beautiful it is down there. It’s truly a beach vacation within an arm’s reach. I felt great most of the trip, but started feeling bad late Sunday. It was downhill from there… the ride home was awful & I got really sick Monday night once we were home. I am able to keep my food down, it’s when my stomach is empty that I get sick. So, starting yesterday I’ve been “grazing” all day. My appetite hasn’t increased since being pregnant (yet!), but I’m eatting more often merely to avoid feeling nauseous/vomitting. I’m going to keep up with this since it seems to be working. I’m trying to eat lots of fruit/salad/etc. I don’t want to end up gaining more weight than necessary in the 1st trimester. Yestereday we went to HEB and got watermelon, canteloupe, peaches, etc. I never craved fruit this much!

I’ve read that if you have bad morning sickness, you are 50% more likely to have a GIRL!  We’ll see…

I’m 7 weeks today. This morning the sensation of a burp sent me running to the toilet. I felt pretty good all day yesterday until the late afternoon and it was downhill from there. Yesterday was the 2nd day I’ve spent the entire day in my PJ’s and didn’t think twice about it (since I’ve been pregnant of course.) Harold and I had always agreed on the name Logan for a boy, until a few months ago he decided he loved the name Apollo. I don’t dislike Apollo, but don’t really “love” it for a first name. So yesterday I suggested Logan Apollo Saville — and Harold loved it! So, we’ll see. We don’t have a girl name picked out, but we have a few ideas. If we have a girl, I don’t think we’re going to give her a middle name. That way, if and when she gets married, she can keep Saville as her middle name. I have my first prenatal appt. this Friday morning, so that’s exciting. I just hope I feel good!! Even though I’ve tried everything under the sun for the morning sickness, I’ll see if the Dr. has any other suggestions.

I spent the weekend… August 21, 2006

Filed under: Morning Sickness — bunintheoven @ 4:12 pm

sleeping & doing whatever I possibly could to avert the constant nausea and vomitting (that started on Friday night.) Harold and I literally did nothing all weekend. We managed to make it out on Sunday afternoon to go to Target & Central Market. I was looking for Seabands - these bands you put on both your wrists to prevent nausea. They don’t release anything, but put pressure on this certain point on your wrist. I’m not sure if I feel they are working, but if I’m home, I’m not taking them off! I also got some ginger candy & ginger tea at Central Market. I do notice that when I eat, I seem to feel better. But, that’s very hard to when when you feel this way. Harold ordered a pizza for dinner last night - I took one bite and that was it! The taste of the meat grossed me out. So, I’ve been eatting a lot of chicken noodle soup, crackers and cold drinks (smoothies, etc.) - these all seem to go down easy.

6 Weeks & Morning Sickness August 16, 2006

Filed under: Morning Sickness — bunintheoven @ 4:03 pm

Unfortunately, it set in over the weekend. But, I’d call it “all day sickness.” It got really bad starting Monday. I have this ongoing feel of nausea, no vomitting, just the constant feeling that I could throw up at any minute. And I’m still really tired. Yesterday I never made it out of my PJ’s. I’m really thankful to be working from home. I can’t imagine having to deal with the m/s at work & trying to hide it from everyone. I read and my Ma mentioned that eatting a couple saltines before you even get out of bed in the morning helps. So, I tried that this morning and I’m drinking a ginger ale. Seems to be a little better than yesterday. The good news is that it’s supposed to end after your 1st trimester — so I’m half way through!!
