Well, no luck at IKEA for baby furniture. The cribs were very reasonably priced, but they didn’t have ANY features (drop-down guardrail or adjustable mattress platform.) But, they did have some fun accessories for kids/babies rooms.
We stopped in a Pottery Barn Kids while at the mall this weekend and they have a nice nursery planner – a grid where you can plot out the room dimensions and add furniture stickers. So, we took the measurements of the room and now have an idea of what we have room for. I think we’re going to get a crib, dresser with a changing table topper… and maybe a little shelf for extra storage. We don’t have a closet in the room, so any added storage would be great.
I started looking at crib bedding sets online; I think that we’ll pick that first and decorate the rest of the room around that. I’ve seen some cute sets by Dwell. I don’t really like anything that’s super frilly, but I still want to keep it fun. We’ll have to paint the walls a light color because that room gets the least light in the whole house.
The baby must be going through a growth spurt because I really feel huge all of the sudden! I’ve been using the Elasticity Belly Oil by Belli every morning after a shower. I think I should start using at night too! I can’ t believe how stretched/taut my belly already feels.
I really liked a lot of the Dwell sets but they can be pricey. I bought my bedding from distinctivenurseries.com it was made by Banana Fish. They have a lot of non-frilly stuff. You may check them out.
Jess, I wouldn’t worry about closet space just yet, I doubt tou will have a need to hang any gowns just yet. You could probably get buy with just buying a dresser or chest of some sort for now. After a couple of years you can plan on a new house. Glad to hear your boss was OK with your plan. You must be very special. I still think part time at home could easily be 38-39 hours per week, one week after delivery. Love Ya
Jess, just have to ask who is HIGH STRUNG? let her know that the colors are PINK!!!! Girl might have gave it away. I remember when you were born, I just got home (the night before at approx 0100) from hernia surgury, within hours there you were. While mom was in the hospital with my little peanut I painted your room, recarpeted it and had it all set up. Mom wasn’t all that pleased, every time I went to the hospital to visit I would fall asleep. She was pleased (I think) when I finally brought you both home once she saw your bedroom. By the way it had a closet.
